12" × 12" plate, 1/4" mild steel
One plate, two jobs: a flat top for the heat, and a press that lays tortillas out dead even. Cut from 1/4-inch mild steel plate and heavy enough to stay put on the fire while you work.

Hand-milled plates, long lever
Milled flat so the whole tortilla comes out the same thickness, with a lever long enough that pressing a hundred is not a workout. Hinges are pinned, not welded shut, so it can be serviced forever.
